Strategies and Suggestions (AAC)
February 14, 2023 2:30-4:00 pm
Everyone has the right to communicate and something to share, and having communication partners who understand the modality is essential for this two-way process. For many staff and learners, AAC is new, with training required to optimize this communication process.
Teachers of students who are Deaf and/or hard of hearing are invited to join Shirley Corbett, APSEA’s Speech-Language Pathologist to learn more about Augmentative & Alternative Communication and practical tips for its use.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about AAC strategies that can be used in complex communication situations
- Breakout into small groups to share activities, toys, and other resources that you have used or adapted with students
- Brainstorm additional adaptations and strategies with colleagues
Intended Participants (maximum of 15 per session):
- Staff supporting learners who qualify for APSEA services and who use AAC
Facilitator:
Shirley Corbett, APSEA Speech-Language Pathologist
