APSEA’s BVI Mentor is quickly becoming an integral source of support for students, families, school teams, and APSEA staff. With lived experience and first-hand perspective, the Mentor supports students, families, and educators in building social and navigational capitol by sharing experiences, supporting strategies to build educational, social, and recreational involvement, acting as a positive role model, whilst encouraging self-determination and self-advocacy. In addition to meeting with students, the Mentor can offer consultation from a lived experience perspective to parents and educational staff.
