Introducing Early O&M Concepts Through Travel Tales: A Mobility Storybook

( View ASL )

Designed for young children who are learning about Orientation and Mobility, this program centres around the classic Travel Tales: A Mobility Storybook by Julia Halpern-Gold, Robin Weinstock Adler, and Shelly Faust-Jones. Led by O&M Specialists Peter Parsons and Sandra Mihan, this foundation program is open to preschool and early elementary students. During each session, students will come together in a virtual circle time style of gathering to listen to read aloud segments of the book, participate in sing-along activities, and play games while learning new Orientation and Mobility concepts and vocabulary words with focus on pre-cane skills, different environments, and public transportation. Because this program is designed for young children, it is recommended that adult supervision be in place during each session.  There is a class for preschool aged children as well as a separate class for early elementary aged children.
