Building Skills for Post-Secondary | Grades 10+

Are you planning to attend college or university? People who are blind or visually impaired graduate and go on to enjoy many exciting opportunities. Join us as we bring together students from across the Atlantic Provinces to connect virtually with a diverse group of adult role models, including professionals who are blind or have low vision, and community partners working in the field of accessibility. In a casual discussion format, you will have a chance to ask questions as they share their knowledge and experience.

Students are welcome to enroll in both workshops to meet additional students and hear from more guest speakers.

In this workshop, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand steps in beginning to plan for transition to post-secondary education, including researching programs, contacting professors and accessibility staff, making a list of technology needs.
  • Expand awareness of self-advocacy skills in post-secondary environment.
  • Develop awareness of their support network beyond school.
