At a Glance: An opportunity for any student who qualifies for APSEA service, regardless of communication modality(s), to join Deaf storytellers and learn some ASL.

Grades: All grades

Schedule: Fridays 1:00-2:00pm (AST) (until June 2023)

Join us Friday afternoons for ASL storytelling of children’s picture books. Each time we meet, our fun and engaging storytellers whisk the students away on a new storybook adventure. Featuring a variety of APSEA staff who are Deaf signers (e.g., Educational Deaf Interpreters (EDIs), Deaf Mentors, ASL Specialists). ASL Storytime includes conversation, storytelling, a review of key vocabulary and phrases, and an opportunity to connect with others.

Students will have opportunities to:

  • Practice new vocabulary
  • Build their receptive and expressive signing skills
  • Meet Deaf staff in the APSEA organization
  • Learn more about ASL – including regional dialects

There are no registration deadlines. Students are welcome to sign up at any time throughout the year and can join in the weekly sessions as often as their schedules permit.
