ASL in Action: An Emerging to Intermediate ASL Communication Skills Program

( View ASL )

As students progress through school and life, they find themselves in new situations that can require new language skills. Similar to developing a spoken language, interacting with others who use ASL can help students to build these skills in a natural way.

This course, offered to students in grades 7 – 12, aims to connect older students who use ASL and will benefit from basic conversation development.

Students in this program will have the opportunity to:

  • Discuss and share current events through structured and unstructured conversations.
  • Interact with their peers by asking and answering questions
  • Practice expanding on their experiences by providing additional details
  • Learn with native ASL signers
