Colour and contrast can help make things easier to see when you are preparing food and during mealtimes. Strategies for improving contrast can be applied to many other functional life skills and household tasks.

It is easier to locate light coloured food and items on darker surfaces and darker coloured food/items on lighter surfaces.

If you are pouring a drink, it is easier to see how full the cup is if it is a contrasting colour. 

When using a cutting board, it is easier to see if the food is of a contrasting colour. Sometimes turning the food so that the more colourful outside faces upwards is helpful (such as with apples or cucumbers).
