Are you looking for an activity that the whole family can participate in? There are many board games that have opportunities for the development of educational and life skills, such as financial literacy. Join teacher Rachel, Fletcher and Fenwick as they explore the ways that Monopoly can be used to work on skills such as:

  • Counting money of various denominations (amounts)
  • Exchanging money with other players (giving and receiving)
  • Budgeting
  • Saving money for expenses and expansions
  • Investing
  • Trading
  • Borrowing money (loan and mortgage)

Monopoly allows children to practice personal finance skills in a fun way! To build language around financial literacy, talk with your children about what you are doing while you are doing it. For example, when you pass ‘GO’ and collect $200, you could talk about saving that money to purchase a property.

Most importantly, have fun!!
