Webinar Overview

Accessible MS Word Documents is a 2-hour technical professional learning session focusing on the principles of creating electronic documents that are accessible for screen reading technology. Our aim is to knowledge share practices that provide a better user experience for individuals who are blind, partially sighted, neurodivergent; anyone who may use screen reading assistive technology to access electronic documents. In the training, we will discuss universal design and standards for electronic information accessibility. We also discuss and practice principles of document accessibility using Microsoft Word (Setup and formatting, using headings, colour contrast, alternative text for images, accessible tables, using links, creating fillable forms, the importance of plain language and evaluating a finished document). These principles can be applied to any word processing software to create a source document with greater accessibility features.
