Independent Living NS and Inclusion NB

An APSEA Counselling Services Community Partner Information Session

Lisa Jenkins, Janice MacPhail and Brian Yee of APSEA Counselling Services invite you to attend a joint presentation from Independent Living Nova Scotia (ILNS) and Inclusion New Brunswick (Formerly called New Brunswick Association of Community Living).

Learn about the services and programs available to Nova Scotians from Kaitlyn Philips of ILNS during the first half of the session. ILNS provides services for young adults with disabilities living in Nova Scotia. The vision of ILNS is to support all Nova Scotians to live a full independent life within their community. Participants will gain knowledge of the referral process as well as the services that are available for young adults through ILNS in Nova Scotia.

Get to know Inclusion NB's services and programs in the second half of the session. Inclusion NB is a non-profit organization that advocates for children and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, as well as their families. The goal is to empower individuals to select the supports they require to live meaningful lives and actively participate in their communities. Participants will gain an understanding of the services provided by Inclusion NB.

The session would be suitable for parents, caregivers, and adult family members as well as APSEA staff and school based educational partners, who are interested in learning more about what ILNS and Inclusion NB has to offer to support transition.

Participants will have opportunities to:

  • Learn about the referral process
  • Learn about programs and services available to individuals living with (dis)ability in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick
  • Connect with other families sharing similar life experiences and needs
