Voice Dream Reader for Schools Text Transcript

Welcome to this short video about Voice Dream Reader for Schools from your friends at the APSEA Access Technology Department.

We often recommend Voice Dream Reader to students who benefit from audio and/or digital text Students who would benefit from the ability to simplify text, adjust how it looks or listen to it, and it's an app that works well with the voiceover screen reader and with refreshable Braille displays.

I’m in the main menu of Voice Dream Reader for Schools.

To add books, there's a plus sign symbol at the top of the screen, and you can add documents from the scanner that's built in from a webpage, from your file browser on the iPad and from digital libraries like CELA.

I'm going to open a sample book here, pride and Prejudice.

At the top of the screen, there are two very important icons, one that looks like a speaker.

These are your audio settings. In here.

You can adjust the speech rate of the reading voice, the language of the reading voice, and the reading voice itself.

You can even adjust pronunciation of some words when the audio settings are set to your preference.

You can close the audio settings and press the the red play button that's near the bottom center of the screen, "But no sooner had he made it clear to himself and his friends that she hardly had a good".

Also, at the top of the screen is a Capital A and lowercase a.

This is the icon for visual settings. In here you can adjust font and spacing, color settings, the speech cursor, and other advanced visual settings.

You can also switch between plain text and rich text.

At the bottom left hand corner of the screen is the table of contents button.

Here you can jump between chapters, bookmarks and annotations.

This is just a quick overview of the Voice Dream Reader app.
