This hands-on workshop is designed to learn about sensory-rich, accessible experience books for children with blindness and low vision. Participants will learn about a variety of ways to represent daily routines or real-life experiences by creating meaningful books your child can revisit again and again.
Based on the theme of bath time, participants will create a custom, durable book, using various textures, tactile, CVI adaptations, and materials to embed early literacy and concept development with family routines.
Parents and Caregivers in this program will have opportunities to:
- Develop your understanding of how experience books support early learning, concept development within family routines
- Build your understanding of tactile access for all learners with blindness and low vision, including learners with CVI
- Brainstorm and share ideas for future book creations
- Make your own tactile experience book for your child
