Designed for students in middle school/junior high, this program explores Orientation and Mobility concepts surrounding youth travel and preparedness for having a guide dog. Drawing from Lil Deverell’s publication, Gabby’s Going Places, participating students will come together in a virtual, round-table style gathering to listen to segments of the book and participate in group discussions and activities. Topics covered may include accessing sensory information, cane skills, moving around safely, compass directions, bus travel, recreational activities, the importance of setting personal goals, and helping out with household chores. Led by APSEA Orientation and Mobility Specialists Peter Parsons and Sandra Mihan.
