Intended Audience: Speech-Language Pathologists
Open to center-based and school-based Speech-Language Pathologists who support learners who are blind and have low vision.

  • Impact of blind and low vision on communication
  • General strategies to support learners with blind and low vision

Session 2: February 19, 2026

Considerations when Assessing Speech and Language Skills

  • Adapting assessments to meet the needs of learners
  • Consider how reduced access to incidental learning may impact assessments
  • Understand the role of concept development with considerations of blindness and low vision

Session 3: March 26, 2026

Collaborating on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

  • What to consider when exploring AAC systems
  • How to use the functional vision and learning media assessment results when designing an AAC system
  • Adaptations to AAC systems
