COVID-19 Update for Families of Children and Youth on the APSEA Caseload

April 8, 2020

Thank you for doing your part for the health of our community. Our collective actions make a big difference for our individual and collective health.

The provinces are announcing plans to support students and learning at home while school buildings remain closed. Enabling children and youth to receive supports and services to continue learning at home is a priority for us, and APSEA staff are working on home learning plans to align with and support the plans in the respective provinces. Home learning resources to support the outcomes of the APSEA Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) and Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Expanded Core Curriculum(s) will be shared once available.

In the coming days, APSEA itinerant teachers will be checking in with families via email or telephone. They will continue to stay in contact with you, through your preferred method of communication, while schools remain closed. Our staff will continue to work with school teams to support programming for students on the APSEA caseload. We are here to help you as we work together to support learning at home.

Please continue to check the following sites for up-to-date COVID-19 information:

The APSEA Centre is closed to the public until further notice. For general inquiries, please call 902-424-8500 where your call will be directed to the appropriate staff member.

As we prepare for this long weekend, please ensure you exercise "COVID-19 safety measures" which include practicing social distancing, staying home when possible, exercising cough/ sneeze etiquette, and frequent (good) hand washing.

Take care of yourself, and one another, especially at this time.
