Welcome Back Letter to Families

( View ASL )

September 8, 2021

Dear families of children and youth on the APSEA Caseload,

On behalf of the Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority (APSEA), I would like to warmly welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year. We recognize that the return to school may bring some mixed emotions. We hope most of you are filled with excitement, but as the reality of the pandemic continues, we know that for some, there is a sense of worry. Schools in all our communities are ready to welcome students and are keeping the physical and emotional health of learners a top priority.

APSEA staff will continue working collaboratively with families, school teams, and education and community partners, while adhering to provincial directives, to ensure continued supports and services for the children and youth on the APSEA caseload and their families. APSEA centre-based educational programming and sessions for families and education and community partners will continue to be offered virtually for this school year through the Virtual Learning Series and APSEA Connect. Information regarding Virtual Learning Series and APSEA Connect will be shared with families via email in the coming weeks. APSEA is on social media, please follow us on Facebook and Twitter @apseacanada for updates throughout the school year.

Public health protocols will be followed in each of the Atlantic provinces subject to the provincial government recommendations. Families are asked to monitor for symptoms of Covid 19 and keep students home as necessary while you continue to follow Covid 19 guidelines as outlined by your province’s health regulations.

We look forward to starting this year with you and your children. Please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

All the best for a successful and healthful year!
