Four families on my caseload this year with preschoolers met at McDonald’s for lunch and a playdate. The idea grew over the Fall term as I noticed how much the children had in common and the desires of the parents to connect with other families. I presented the idea and everyone made the time to come.
It was a great opportunityfor the parents to meet each other and learn about how other families are meeting the day today needs of young children wearing amplification. The kids made fast friends climbing up and down the play structure and showing each other their Happy Meal toy.
Each child noticed in her/his own way that the others had hearing aids or softband BAHA’s on too. I was even able to throw in a few language goals as I called up to them saying “Wow, you are at the top. That is so high. Come to the bottom!”.
I think it was a great way to spend a Friday lunch hour!
