Our knowledgeable staff will share their personal experiences and insights, highlighting the diverse ways people navigate the world. Let's explore the intersections of medical, cultural, and fluid perspectives over a cup of coffee!
In this program, participants will have opportunities to:
- Meet and learn from Educational Support Specialists - Deaf Mentors with lived experience
- Learn about the fluidity of labels (Deaf, deaf, hard of hearing, hearing, late deafened, deaf-blind)
- Ask questions directly in a warm and friendly environment
- Session 1: An Exploration of Perspectives: Medical and Social Models of Being Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing
- Session 2: Navigating Identity: Where Do I Fit?
- Session 3: Deaf Gain: Our Culture and Contribution
