Estate Planning for Beneficiaries with Disabilities

During this session, Tarah Sawler, estate planning lawyer at McInnes Cooper and past APSEA student, will review the importance of having an up-to-date Will, Power of Attorney, and Personal Directive. She will also explain the estate planning options available to family members of people with disabilities and the tax and personal advantages to adopting these planning options. Specific topics covered will include the importance and relevance of a Disability Tax Credit, Registered Disability Savings Plan, and trusts designed for beneficiaries with disabilities.
