Moving Up! Supporting your learner as they get ready for Junior High or High School

This session is designed to support parents and caregivers of learners who are Deaf/hard of hearing as they prepare for the transition to junior high or high school. Participants will explore what changes to expect, how to support growing independence, and ways to strengthen communication and self-advocacy at home. The Transition Activity Guide will be shared as a practical tool to help families support their child through this transition.

Participants in this program will have opportunities to:

  • Understand key changes and expectations in junior high and high school  
  • Learn how to support independence and self-advocacy at home  
  • Explore common challenges for learners who are DHH in new environments  
  • Use the Transition Activity Guide to support conversations and planning

Language: English with ASL interpretation available
